PRECISION AND ACCURACY ABOVE ALL

OIL & GAS

We provide 3D dimensional inspection consultancy and products related to the metrology industry

The Oil & Gas industry requires rapid and accurate dimensional inspection to ensure fabrication quality, durability, and easy installation, with particular attention to offshore operations.

At ALTO, we have extensive experience in managing surveys of large manufacturing using total station laser trackers or laser scanners. Our experienced engineers evaluate the fabrication sequence and develop appropriate method statements to standardise the measurement process. We utilise specific metrology software to manage the raw data, compensate for temperature variations, and generate comprehensive 3D reports.

The software we use supports virtual assembly, a crucial analysis that saves time and resources during the fit-up stage.

Top Side

Topside is composed of multiple decks, each supported by columns. Deck flatness and column positioning are of utmost importance and must be maintained within tolerance. At ALTO, we execute rapid checks and deliver as-built reports, along with virtual assembly to assess deck-to-deck fitting before lifting.

Jacket

Jackets or mono-piles are structures supporting oil & gas platforms offshore. Ensuring correct manufacturing is crucial, as jackets bear the platform load and transfer it into the seabed. Precise node positioning, straightness, and leg spacing are vital for a smooth installation. ALTO specialises in on-site dimensional inspection and virtual assembly, providing clear, readily available reports to optimise each manufacturing stage.

On-Site Machining

Crane flanges or equipment sittings need to be flat, and the bolt holes must be in the correct position. On-site machining is often considered the best solution; however, it requires a large volume of equipment to measure the DATUM, position, and monitor the milling machine during the process. At ALTO, we excel in supporting on-site machining activities with our expert engineers and laser tracker devices.

Virtual Assembly

At ALTO, we perform dimensional inspection surveys using advanced technology and software. All the measurements are 3D digitised, and a virtual assembly report can be generated as a result of the study. Multiple elements of the same assembly are measured and digitised at different moments and places, and then virtually assembled to predict potential misalignment, gaps, or collisions that need to be rectified before the physical assembly takes place.
